Bed Head: Styling "Next Day" Hair. I love "next day" hair. It styles better, feels healthier, and doesn't involve me stripping my hair's natural oils every single day. I still wash my body, but I like to style my hair and let it do it's thing for as long as possible :). I should mention that I comb my hair on Day 1, and use a soft bristled brush for the rest of the week.
I hope you find these tips useful!

Q: Why did you switch from Dr. Bronner's as a shampoo?
A: Dr. Bronner's worked great for me. I started experimenting with other shampoos because it doesn't seem to have an equally beneficial effect on other heads, so I wanted to recommend something cheap and natural that could be used by more people!
Q: How do you get your curls to hold until the next day?
A: For me, it's all about the size of the curl. If the curl is a perfect size, I can brush it and it will look like a pretty wave and hold better naturally without product. If the curl (or curling iron) is too small, it brushes into frizzy afro-like look. If the curl is too big, it won't hold without product and will fall flat. This is why I curl my hair with a straightener, if you get the angle right and curl them all in the same direction, your curls will have a better chance of holding! Make sure you deep condition so it feels great, too!
Q: How can I wash my hair less often? It gets so greasy after one day!
A: I feel you. My hair used to get greasy, itchy and super dandruffy after ONE day of not washing. It was because I used so many drying shampoos to get the grease off and my scalp had to compensate for what it lost by producing more oil. It's a long process, I know, but start by doing research and finding a very gentle and natural shampoo. Play it by ear and see if you can start slowly getting away with being more minimalistic. It's all about training your hair to take care of itself without crazy amounts of intervention with harsh, drying products! Treat your scalp like you treat your face, don't dry it to oblivion!
Q: Have you tried the "no poo" method aka baking soda and apple cider vinegar?
A: Yes. If my hair was thinner, shorter and not colour treated, I would use it still. It's a great alternative to shampoo and conditioner if your hair is very manageable. Perfect for many men!
Q: My hair stinks if I don't wash it for one day, help!
A: I was amazed to hear that some people actually get stinky heads after one day of not showering. I have never, ever had this problem. It might be because I have very thick hair, and less room for oil glands on my head. Hair odor is like body odor, so it will take a deodorizer to assist the problem. I would love to know if any of you ladies have had luck with any natural hair deodorizers!
Q: Do you used a heat protectant?
A: No. Though I'm sure many people would benefit from one, I personally do not use any product that is marketed as a heat protectant. I don't have any problem growing my hair, especially since my diet change. My hair is strong and I have more hair than I know what to do with, so I don't see the point. I have never benefitted from using a heat protectant in all of the years of using heat on my hair, so it is something I can't be bothered to use. You might benefit from one if your hair is more fragile!
Q: Can I still do this if I exercise and sweat a lot?
A: I work out a lot, but I have a preference for high intensity interval training. So my workouts are relatively short, I do sweat but not for extended periods of time, which helps a lot!
Q: Can I use hair powder on dark hair?
A: My roots are almost black and it works on me. Just make sure you apply it sparingly so it can mop up excess oil without building up too much. It looks a little chalky at first, but if I rub it in to evenly distribute it and wait a while, it will look like soft, clean hair, nothing more!
Q: Do you wear a shower cap?
A: No, I just put my hair in a high bun and hop in the shower to wash my body. I usually get my neck and the hair that frames my face wet because I wash my face, but it doesn't bother me.
Everyone has different hair and skin, and there are so many variables. As with all of my recommendation videos, I encourage you to do what feels best for you and your personal needs. What works for me will not work for everyone.
